Horticulture collaborations in East Africa

With funds from the U.S. Agency for International Development, Horticulture CRSP has supported nearly $2.6 million in horticultural research projects that affect smallholder farmers in East African countries.

Our partners in East Africa are critical to the success of our research and activities there.

Launching on May 9 is the Horticulture CRSP Regional Center of Innovation with KARI. The new center is located at the FPEAK Practical Training Center in Thika, Kenya, and will bring together key regional players to improve livelihoods of poor farmers and small businesses in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Ethiopia.

Also ongoing are a number of smaller Trellis projects in the region, which pair an organization in a developing country with a U.S. graduate student for a horticultural project.

Each of Horticulture CRSP's research projects includes partners from an organization in a developing country and a principal investigator from a U.S. university. Here are highlights of Horticulture CRSP projects in East Africa, specifically:

This is just a partial list of our team's projects; see a complete list of Horticulture CRSP projects worldwide.
