Positions associated with the Horticulture Innovation Lab

Graduate Student Researcher - Communications

The Horticulture Innovation Lab has an opening for a 50% Graduate Student Researcher to assist in communications activities, beginning in summer 2017 and continuing through the fall quarter (with possibility of extension).

This GSR would join the Horticulture Innovation Lab’s communications team to provide content and assistance for the program’s website, blog, email newsletter, social media, and fact sheets. Help us curate our program’s useful agricultural information and tell compelling stories about our international agricultural work.


Bonus points for applicants who have experience using Adobe Creative Suite programs (InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere); are familiar with WordPress, HTML, or Drupal-based websites; have professional experience related to editing, writing for websites, writing impact stories, writing for policy audiences, or managing website content; and/or have a discerning eye for compelling content for various formats and audiences.

About us: The Horticulture Innovation Lab builds international partnerships for fruit and vegetable research to improve livelihoods in developing countries. The program is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and led by a team in the UC Davis Department of Plant Sciences, as part of the U.S. government's Feed the Future initiative. We are interested in someone starting in July or August up to 20 hours/week, with potential to continue working with us during the school year. UC Davis graduate students, including those beginning coursework in the fall quarter, are eligible to apply.
