The 2024 Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Horticulture annual meeting is being organized by the Innovation Lab and the Escuela Agricola Panamericana (Zamorano), the host organization for the Central America Horticulture Regional Hub.

The meeting´s objective: Bolster collaboration and knowledge exchange across horticulture professionals, deeply analyze the progress and impact of horticulture projects and research, and foster sustainable impact through strategic collaborations and practical learning experiences.

  • Central America: Focus on technological adaptation for climate resilience and market access in Guatemala; youth empowerment in horticulture research in Honduras.
  • West Africa: Food security initiatives through indigenous fruits and vegetables in Ghana and Mali; youth engagement in Nigeria; sector strengthening in Guinea Bissau.
  • East Africa: Economic analysis of integrating horticulture with staple crops in Kenya; technology development for women farmers in Uganda; productivity and market access enhancement for AIVs in Kenya.
  • South Asia: Youth entrepreneurship in Nepal; combating soilborne diseases for better livelihoods; urban and peri-urban horticultural advancements in Bangladesh and Nepal

  • Attendees: Approximately 50 Regional Horticulture Stakeholders
  • Objective: To discuss recent developments, share insights, and foster collaboration among stakeholders in the horticulture sector

June 7th: Site Visits

  • Description: An experiential learning opportunity designed to apply insights from the week’s discussions through practical observation and engagement.

Lodging and per diems/MEI will be covered based on the itinerary above:

Nights/per diems that are covered by the Annual Meeting funds are June 2nd through June 7th (departure on June 8th).

Passport and visa requirements

Please ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay in Guatemala, whit at least two blank pages. You will also need to obtain a visa prior to your arrival. Visa requirements vary depending on your country of origin. It´s the sole responsibility of all visitors intending to enter the Guatemala Republic to check visa requirements. Tourist or Traveler Visa Requirements for countries category "B" (Mission Consult Abroad)

  • Visa application form
  • Valid and valid Passport
  • Two photographs
  • Air, land or sea ticket reservation
  • Proof of income and/or bank statements for the last three months.
  • International credit card
  • Proof of payment.
  • If required by a company, you must also submit:
    • Original letter of service requirement, issued by the public or private institution requesting the foreigner.

Tourist Visa Requirements for countries category "C" (Guatemalan Institute of Migration)

  • Visa application form
  • Valid and valid passport
  • Certification of validity and validity of passport
  • Clearance of criminal and police record
  • Transportation ticket or the constitution of Guatemalan guarantor
  • Proof of payment.
  • If required to perform any consulting or remunerated advisory activity present also:

REQUIREMENTS FOR IMMIGRATION REGISTRATION

  • Valid passport in good condition
  • The corresponding visa (the category (A) is exempted from visa to enter Guatemala)
  • Conduct the respective interview.
  • Demonstrate economic solvency (credit cards or cash that supports your stay for tourism purposes in the country or if it is for business reasons, demonstrate through the corresponding documentation for the effect and the presence of the guarantor that is assuming the economic responsibility of the foreigner.
  • Hotel reservation or proof of the place of stay in the country.
  • Present your return ticket or other means of transportation that guarantees your departure from the country.

Covid Requirements

All passenger arriving in Guatemala through any point of entry must have a certificate of Covid 19 Vaccination.
