Centers of Innovation
In collaboration with partner institutions, the Horticulture Innovation Lab opened Demonstration Centers in Central and North America, as well as Asia. While one center closed operations after the third phase, the Demonstration Center in Central America is now locally led by our Regional Hub based at Zamorano, and the UC Davis location is also still in operation and let by the management entity team.
These Demonstration Centers bring together key regional players to improve livelihoods of smallholder farmers and small businesses in the regions' developing countries, while building capacity at the host institutions.
Primary goals shared between each of the Demonstration Centers are:
- Researching, innovating and disseminating horticultural technologies
- Training farmers, horticultural stakeholders, extension agents and researchers
- Building capacity among local institutions
