This poster from the Horticulture Innovation Lab's 2014 annual meeting was presented by Javier Diaz of the Fundación Hondureña de Investigación Agricola (FHIA).
The poster is titled, "Project Seeds of Hope: Field evaluation and multiplication of tomato cultivars developed by AVRDC in Honduras," and provides an abstract, a description of the evaluation with a cooperative, an overview of the training and field day, as well as yield data for various tomato cultivars under different conditions.
Poster Abstract: After two years of multiple evaluations, a final group of five cultivars of tomato developed by the AVRDC in Taiwan were evaluated in two environments: mega-tunnel and open field at FHIA in Honduras during the 2012-2013 season. Results indicated that the selected cultivars are well adapted to local conditions, and commercial yield under protected conditions incremented the yield in 29.6 percent. All cultivars showed good tolerance to viruses.
The poster provides updates for the Horticulture Innovation Lab project called, "Producing local, disease-resistant vegetable seed" led by James Nienhuis of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
This poster was part of the Horticulture Innovation Lab 2014 Annual Meeting, which took place March 17-21, 2014 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
