Telling a story about a Cambodian farmer who is a client of Cambodia HARVEST, Symantha Holben presents about the program's services.
Cambodia HARVEST is aimed at improving agriculture as a commercial business in four Cambodian provinces. The project, implemented by Fintrac, Inc., as part of Feed the Future, works with households that have larger land holdings to introduce commercial farming technology. Participants visited HARVEST clients in Anchan village.
In Holben's story, a Cambodian farmer goes from growing a low-yielding staple crop, to growing high-value horticultural crops. Because of the support provided by HARVEST, the farmer is trained on irrigation, land preparation, treating pests, and has increased access to and knowledge of high quality inputs. By the end of the story, the farm has joined a producer purchasing group and has plans to continue improving production on her land.
This presentation was given at the 2016 Horticulture Innovation Lab annual meeting in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
