Lightning talk: Cold storage of horticultural crops in Bangladesh

Implementing small-scale cold storage technology in Bangladesh is the subject of this presentation. Amrita Mukherjee presented this five-minute lightning talk on the Horticulture Innovation Lab project focused on sustainable potato storage in Bangladesh that was a collaboration with the International Potato Center.

The presentation shares photos of CoolBot technology and highlights data on CoolBot high performance and better product quality, relative to household storage. Some of the problems with the CoolBot discussed in the presentation are time, cost, and electricity. Photos of produce stored in the CoolBot are compared to potatoes stored with other methods. The presentation concludes with cost and profit analysis, showing a 27 cent/kg profit for carrot storage.

This presentation was given at the 2016 Horticulture Innovation Lab annual meeting in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
