Partnership in Agricultural Community Entrepreneurship (PACE)

Description

This International Journal of Interdisciplinary Research and Innovations article features the Horticulture Innovation Lab project "Creating a market niche for 'food-safe' vegetables: Cambodia, Vietnam." The article describes how bringing together disaggregated members of smallholder farming communities into shared interest savings groups (SISGSs) is as important for scaling up the production of healthy and nutritious foods as the introduction of new farming technologies and practices. The article reports preliminary findings, which indicate that SISGS are an effective mechanism for bringing together farmers, farm families, suppliers, savings and credit schemes, transporters, processors, and marketers to collaborate in building value chains that assure a viable and sustainable local horticultural-based economy.
