2014 Project update: Training plant diagnosticians across Latin America

Description

This poster focuses on project updates from 2014 for the project "Deployment of Rapid Diagnostic Tools for Phytophthora on Horticultural Crops in Central America" The poster was presented by Jean Ristaino, North Carolina State University. She is the principal investigator of the project, in collaboration with Kelly Ivors, NC State University, Raleigh, NC; Monica Blanco Meneses, Universidad de Costa Rica, San Jose, Costa Rica; Dinie Espinal Rueda, Zamarano University, Honduras; Peter Bonants, Plant Research International, Netherlands; and Jose Melgar, Earth University, Costa Rica. 

The poster includes an abstract, a justification for the project, specific project objectives, and information and photos from a Phytophthora diagnostics workshop that took place at the Panamerican Agricultural School, Zamorano, in 2013. It also includes photos of students identifying Phytophthora species and instructors demonstrating methods.

The poster is accompanied by a handout that contains the project abstract, summary, and future directions.

This poster was part of the Horticulture Innovation Lab 2014 Annual Meeting, which took place March 17-21, 2014 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
