Event:
We welcome you to the inaugural Global Food Systems Research Day, Seeding Food Systems Resilience, aligned with the World Food Prize and building off the theme: "Seeds of Opportunity: Bridging Generations and Cultivating Diplomacy." This event aims to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and foster discussions initiated at the World Food Prize through both basic and applied research. The University of California, Davis has been at the forefront of agricultural research and innovation since its inception. Through initiatives such as the Feed the Future Innovation Labs, CGIAR’s Standing Panel on Impact Assessment, Institute for Global Nutrition, and the One Health Institute, UC Davis has made significant contributions to global food security and sustainable agricultural practices, addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
Scheduled to coincide with the 2024 World Food Prize, this event will leverage the presence of global food systems leaders to foster dialogue and partnerships. The public forum will include scholars, practitioners, students, faculty, university leadership, and policymakers to discuss topics such as methods to preserve biodiversity, livestock and crop systems, adapt to and mitigate climate change, social consideration e.g. gender and youth, and mechanisms to increase farmer and community resilience. Through a series of keynotes, panels, and discussions, this event aims to highlight the latest research in agricultural food systems and spark new collaborations and innovations that will drive forward global strategies on food security and sustainable development.
Following the presentations, there will be a reception where you can engage with presenters, partners, and other global experts to gain deeper insights.
More specifics to come regarding the full agenda, as we confirm additional speakers.
